Pingtung University of Science and Technology in Taiwan has installed four speed-enforcement cameras on campus following a series of fatal traffic accidents. Enforcement is scheduled to begin on February 1, 2027.
The university has a large campus, and many students commute by motorcycle. According to local news reports, two fatal traffic accidents occurred on campus since October last year. In response, the university introduced the YouBike public bicycle-sharing system, carried out road-safety improvement work during the summer vacation, and installed four speed cameras.
A student described the measures as part of the university’s efforts to improve traffic safety and protect students.
The campus measures are intended to encourage slower driving and create safer roads for everyone using the university grounds.
